<description>Demonstration of thermal engineering tool DPTherm developed by Deep Pandya. DPTherm is a Libre Common Lisp tool useful for preliminary design of Shell &amp; Tube Heat Exchanger. It performs design calculations and thermo-hydraulic analysis based on Kern Method. It is licensed under AGPLv3. This video shows an example of running DPTherm Terminal User Interface (TUI). For illustration purpose, a shell and tube heat exchanger is designed for cooling hot oil from 200°C to 40°C using a cooling water of available temperature limit. Parameters Calculated by DPTherm: Heat duty, Mass flow rate, LMTD, Heat transfer area, Tube numbers, Shell diameter, Shell and tube side velocities, Reynold and Prandtl numbers, Shell and tube side heat transfer coefficients, Overall heat transfer coefficients, Pressure drops., It performs thermal and hydraulic analysis by correcting the heat transfer coefficient, by recalculating velocities and pressure drops and by fixing tube geometry to allowable set limits. After performing coupled thermal and hydraulic analysis iteratively, it finally prints the design of shell and tube heat exchanger.
